If you're moving to or just visiting Manchester, New Hampshire, you're sure to enjoy yourself. However if you need a quiet atmosphere away from the clanking and pollution of factories and industrial vehicles in the more urban parts of the Megalopolis, visit a park. Whether you're here on business or for pleasure, make sure to take time to enjoy the over 2,000 acres of park, trail, and green space set aside for your enjoyment. Here are some of the things to see and do in Manchester parks.

Trails and Picnics

Want to stretch your legs after hours on a plane or put those baby sleeping bags to use as picnic blankets? Try hiking along Black Brook in the Blodget Park Conservation Area or visiting Derryfield Park. It has both a nature trail and picnic facilities. Some other trail locations include Livingston Park, Pine Island Conservation Area, the Pisquataquog River Park, and Stark Park. Picnics can be had on the lawns at any park, but special facilities are located in Prout Park, and Crystal Lake Park.

Playgrounds

Children just love to run around outside, climbing all over everything they can find and making new friends with other kids. So why not bring your significant other and your kids along when you come to Manchester for the yacht keel design conference? While you deliver lectures they can have the time of their lives at one of these dedicated Manchester play parks: Brown Mitchell Park, Enright Park, Gill Stadium, Rock-Rimmon Park, or Sullivan Park.

Sports

Manchester residents love to play sports. It's fun and being active helps them stay healthy. If you're moving to the city, you should consider joining a recreational league in soccer, football, hockey, tennis, or becoming a member of the cricket club. If you're looking for a solitary pursuit on your visit, many of our parks have soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball nets, football fields, and running tracks. There's also a skate park at Sheehan-Basquill Park, fishing on the rivers and lakes, and canoeing and sailing on Nutt's Pond.

Winter Fun

When the world freezes over, many outdoor enthusiasts stop going to their Bobcaygeon cottages, but winter can be one of the most fun times for outdoor activities. The MacIntyre ski area in Manchester is a great place to ski, snowboard, skate, snowshoe, or even go sledding. A form of tobogganing involving inner tubes is popular in a Manchester, so head out to MacIntyre or and check it out!
